My Destiny

Why am I here? Why am I in this space? My body is here, my spirit is not, what is the case? I look at my surroundings and examine objects closely As I’m sitting in a confined room that’s warm and toasty I tell myself I obviously don’t belong here This is not my destiny, but I know it’s near These spirits are too comfortable and complacent My spirit is solely focused on future emplacement At the same time I need these resources and networking opportunities So I can build bridges and uplift my community There’s a goal in mind with a strict timeline Cadence is key and sometimes I feel crazy like Einstein Deep down, I know it’s part of the process for me to succeed I’m just a vessel ready and willing to plant a seed.

Amen. Been there, done that. Jobs are an "intake" and writing is an "outtake". In order to maintain a sense of balance you need both. Your writing triggered thought in me. Excellent poem.

Thanks Ricky! It's funny you mentioned day job. Believe it or not, I actually wrote this poem on the job. The environment I described in the poem "confined room that's warm and toasty" is very true. I was going through training feeling some type of way, and I pulled out my phone and wrote down what I felt. That poem is what come out. It took be about 5 minutes.
