My Desk Has Writers Block Scattered All Over It

I'm at my desk, seated in my swivel chair
11 pm trying to come up with an idea to share
My trash can overflows from thrown out pages
My jar of M&M's lowers in stages
My glass of iced tea is now luke warm
The top of my desk looks like it was hit by a storm
My wooden stationary box sits askew
There's a soggy rawhide chip that the puppy has chewed
My note pad is dog-eared and tossed to the side
This kind of chaos I just can't abide
So I need an idea to get things going
Or soon my frustration will start showing
I might as well stop to get some rest
To restart in the morning I think would be best

So here it is a bright new day
A fresh start and a soda to light my way
I'm sure anytime now the thoughts will start flowing
Where they will lead me, that's where I'll be going

This expresses how I have been this past year. Nothing seems to come easily and the coffee mug is emptied many times along with the candy bowl as I try to write a line that sounds good to me. I tell myself all the words in the world yet the muse is stuck in time. love phyl
