My Desert Igloo
Through giant glass panelings
impressively thick and tinted,
protecting and protective
of this impeccably efficient
industrial fortress, for ages
my desert igloo, for wages,
I peer beyond the dusty swirls outside,
losing count of lost decades inside.
Shielded from the noontime glare,
I survey saudi sands a-seething
for mirages mesmerizing
and, at sundown, for shadows
of oases hurriedly ascending
to the skies slowly descending.
Time no longer stretches my patience thin.
Friend, seems to me I've just checked in!
