My Darling Cat

My cat, you wont believe,
could never read nor write
Still he dashed an eye at me
when I read my published ode

Soon he ran downtown
to tell about his miss
He declared I read a word for him
I had read it from the Morning News

But really, my cat could never read
He simply listened closely to my ode
and know dear friends, he had to go
downtown
