My Clock Won'T Rock

I had a poem to write and sign
The lights went out, all is not fine
Fumbled in the dark, two AM was the time
How did I know the clock was behind?

The pendulum swung sounding the gong
Waiting for twice but something’s wrong
It bonged three, really moved along
Didn’t sound right, usually reverb and strong

Still in the dark, my thoughts went aground
My pen is twitching, the clock is down
Moving the hands back, but time would frown
What should I do before the next sound?

Stopping the motion I could set it back
Reducing the weights would give me slack
Could finish my poem, so pen won't give me flack
Will be back in the groove with mind in tact

Its hands are set, the pendulum standing still
Then back in motion which time will fill
It’s going to strike now, such a thrill
Only struck one, I’ve lost my will

I heard a scramble and then a knock
a mouse said “hi… Mr Tick Tock”
I feel I’ve been fooled and quite mocked
He signed my poem Hickory Dickory Dock!!!!
