My choir director is a painter a music stand her easel the choir loft her frame her canvas is the air we breathe in and synchronously exhale Sixteen voices are her paints organized by color palettes low ebony hues down there bright primary tones over here complementary colors placed in between the accompanist creates a background wash under her attentive ear Following her calling with tenacity and talent her hands pirouetting like ballerinas expressive decisive intentional coaxing cohesive chorales conversing with the rhythm she paints a sacred symmetry of sanctified synergy in sound // for Janet, my beloved choir director and bride of 35 years // written 2 Aug 2020

Thank you ever so kindly, my friend. You as a singer may have some experience with wonderful choir directors. I know I'm biased, but she really is a good one and everyone else in our little choir would agree!

This is such a heartwarming tribute to your wife, I love the way you describe music as colors of a painting - and I see congratulations are in order too, and well earned-

Thank you my dear friend. It's been very hard on her being away from choir during COVID-19. Your words are much appreciated.

John this is such an original and brilliant combination of ideas. I really loved it and the personal touch behind the inspiration. Thank you too for commenting on an old poem of mine even though I haven't been writing any new poems for a couple of months. All is well here but we are well and truly immersed in wedding preparations albeit, sadly, for a masked event!!

I'm sure it will be a magnificent and memorable day. Thank you for the lovely comment. God bless you, my friend ~ John
