My broken heart

Love life
who am I kidding
I nurture men until
they find forever homes
my time like
a black excalibur
slips from my grasp
age creeps up on me
no children
no legacy
to leave behind
my heart broken
not just once, but twice
it's too late in my search
too many complications
too much disappointment
to ever fill the void
of fulfillment
of sharing one love
with a soulmate
to call my own

Some of it is true. I do have children:-) they do fill the gap.

Hello Karen, there is a devastatingly sharp honesty in your poem. I was particularly struck by how the person reclaimed David’s "black excalibur" to describe time slipping away. Excellent! Blessings, Karen, Daniel

It's not true, just trying to write if I were in someone else's shoes.
