My Best Blessing

If I had to compare
My life now to then
I just couldn’t share
For you give me such zen

I’ve forgotten it all
The past is a blur 
I hear only the call
Of your beckoning purr

I can go nowhere but forward
My mind lost control
My heart it took over
And tallied the total

My worth is with you
You’ll carry me through
A life that’s brand new
Genuine and true

I’d always thought rainbows 
Were far away too
But I’ve never felt sunshine
As much as with you

You’ve given me something 
More precious than dimes
A world full of loving
And you’ve given me time

We can’t count the number 
Of years on this earth
But believe me my darling
You’re mine past the dirt

We’ll float up to heaven
And meet at the gate
You are my best blessing
Forever in sate
