My Battle Wounds

They wanted to know what had been fought Wishing I never had this story to tell Think it's for the wrong reason But I went through hell First there was a terrible mark Still a badge showing courage At least that's what I thought Some may think it wrong But it shows of strength Looking back I should have known Even though it has been earned I should have learned No matter how long the night The badge will be here when I wake No matter why the battle was fought First telling stories of my memories The audience showed interest My story made me the best I thought I knew why Now those thoughts have gone by Most don't care about my memory Those who would still remember Were left behind This memory I never wanted Will never leave my mind
