My Battle

My battle has been my burden
Only God knows how I have carried it over the years
At times it has dragged me down to be downtrodden
Other times it has swayed me but kept me grounded
Although it has been my daily yoke
It has kept me focused and woke.

My battle and I have been on a journey
It has travelled besides me
Along the way I have stumbled
Then it made me to be humble
It has triggered me to be strong
And kept me from taking a road so wrong.

My battle has been my salvation
It has guided me, it has healed me
It has been my source of knowledge
It has been my source of strength
It has taught me how to fight
In darkness, it has been my light.

My battle has been my circumstances
It has characterized my being, my stance
It has sustained me
It has maintained me
It has made me to bud into a flower
It has given me much power.

My battle has been my watershed
Only God knows my pain, my joy
Through it, I had shed tears
Yet I had to face my fears
Overtime it has made me bold
It is a story of my life that has to be told.

You say "I don't know" for poetry form. But this is rhyme. It's just a rhyme that you did your own pattern to and that's a great way to do it.
