Mute Muse

Where are you lingering?
you hide your fiery trail;
inspiration gleaming bright
grows dim and deathly pale.

Secret whispered phrases,
hand over mouth are held
captive in a stagnant soul,
pure drops in fountains failed.

Beyond release tormented,
behind restraining bars
waiting for the night to swell
and birth abundant stars.

I love to read your poetry Faye. I know I will not be disappointed. Your rhyme sails so smoothly from stanza to stanza, like honey slowly dripping down from the hive! You are mistaken, your Muse is present and accounted for! Into my fav's. Aloha, Connie
