Musings About Life After the Coronavirus Pandemic

I have been thinking about what life in this world might be like, When from the throes of this pandemic we emerge and take a hike, Even though we are still in the midst of this global disaster, One day soon this Coronavirus nightmare we will get over. But what will the lasting effects be, when Corona no longer dominates the landscape, Would there be unpleasant realities from which we cannot escape? Will the world economy rapidly recover as many are predicting? Or could we be in for a prolonged period of economic declining? Could Covid-19 be the harbinger of future disasters and pandemics, That will wreak havoc on global economics, Leading to a period of severe economic distress, Which makes all our national currencies worthless. For years some have been predicting a time of universal harmony, When the whole world would be using one currency, With the economies of all nations so tightly stretched, The reality of one world economic order is not far-fetched. And who would be the leader of this global entity? It would have to be someone with great moral authority. Would he or she be Chinese, German, Russian or American? Or maybe he or she might just be European. What type of political system might we have to live under? In this time that might not be too far yonder. Would we be free to exercise our autonomy, Or will be the subjects of an autocracy? Enough of my musings, but I hope this poem get you thinking, And start to some self-evaluating. The Covid-19 pandemic has made us confront our own mortality, My sincere hope is that it will also propel us to plan for eternity.
