Musical Friend
I see my old guitar in the corner there … It looks back at me with contempt I think … For how long has it been since we've sat awhile and enjoyed the melodious sound of it's strings … which are old and tired and need to be renewed … as do I.
It has not been my intent to ignore it for so long … but there is work and there are responsibilities … and though music flows through my veins throughout the adult day and cycles through my mind in the darkest nights … I now seldom pick up my constant friend to release it all …
Tonight, I tell myself, tonight I will meet with you … I'll dust your frame and tune your lonesome strings … and we will strum and sing ever so quietly into the night … for awhile all will be right in our world.
