Music Box Dancer

Upstairs is a pretty little music box that I love.
It has been waiting all alone for some years.
I have not heard its melody with my ears.
It stands in a dusty narrow attic above.

Walking among these things of an earlier day,
I reminisce of how I used to dance and sway.
I wound up the box, and the music would play.
Sweet memories are carrying me away.

Oh little music box, come downstairs with me.
Adorning the top of my dresser once more,
you will be something I’ll forever adore.
You will play and I will dance in harmony.

This is a lovely piece, Robert! I enjoyed reading this one very much, picturing the dancing along with the music box girl. Thanks so much for your comment on Anticipation. It's snowing again here, although while watching the flakes fluttering around, I felt the stirrings of an early spring within...it's probably just wishful thinking though!!! LOL

Gee, I had a music box with a dancer and the melody was "Lara's Song" from Dr. Zhivago. All the memories came rushing back as I read your poem, Robert. Surely, this will place high in the contest! Love, Carolyn
