Murky Time
MURKY TIME
My rambling thoughts keep me awake on sleepless nights,
when the present time, I consider murky, sneaks in my mind.
I cannot help comparing the present time with the Dark Ages,
time marked by economic, intellectual and cultural decline.
I cannot fully explain or understand what has been going on,
especially the prevailing disclosed dishonesty and immorality.
I lay awake in the stillness of the night thinking of my children
and grandchildren and how this changing times affect us all.
With the advancement of technology, I see decline of economy,
intellect, morality, society, maybe family as well as self-worth.
The advanced technology helps prolong lives, health and medical
wellness and worldwide instant communication and information.
However, it creates total dependence to technology for some
people’s beliefs are now swayed by the media, depending on
which side are you on resulting in extreme divide of society,
and reliance to technical information rather than self-reliance.
I do understand the financial hardships some people are going
through; but there are also so much fraud going on in taking
advantage of government’s assistance, like it is more of what
the government can do for you, not even what you can do.
So many losing sights of their confidence and self-worth for
they use their money, influence to get in to prestige schools
instead of studying, achieving and accomplishing good grades
for what they care about is their vanity or how good they look.
Or use the media to flaunt their wealth, prominence in the
society and their grandiose life styles or to promote their lies,
dishonesty for in their mind set, they are true and it does not
matter if it hurts their own families; yes, the “Me” attitudes.
Who am I to say such things? I am just somebody, who maybe
like others are wondering what, which direction we are going.
I wish I could change the world or make it a better place; but
I know and hope this murky time will pass, like the Dark Ages.
I admire those people with strong conviction of having their
morality intact and nothing can taint it no matter what and
appreciate the ones contributing their creativity in Art with
their writing, music, dance, art works like drawing, painting.
My high regards to artists sharing their artistry without
thinking of profit; but focusing on inspiring, influencing
others to stay positive, hopeful and still believing what
a wonderful world we live in, even in such a murky time.
