Listen to poem:
The rain it pelts The lightning crashes A shadowy figure Through streetlight dashes The strangers meet The wine is poured To infiltrate The secrets stored The army man The cook, the nurse Field questions deep Without rehearse To crack the code. To solve the crime. Complete the task Pre coffee-time This desperate crew This shady bunch Explore, unblinking Every hunch Accusatory Fists they slam! "Rice pudding?" Please. "A blob of jam?" The time bomb ticks Suspicions linger The awful truth Of pointy finger A crime of lust? Inheritance gain? The washing-up Will still remain.. At last conclude. The mortal sin Has been revealed The verdict's in A lover's tiff. A desperate heart. But love enhanced As friends depart We all agree.. Despite the rain To murder is fun Let's do this again

Thank you Candide. Hot off the back of a murder with friends! (we didn't actually have rice pudding for sweet - artistic license you understand..). Thank you for crossing the police cordon to comment :))

Hello Sam, What a thrilling journey through a murder mystery, filled with suspense, intrigue, and unexpected humor. The rhythmic word flow drew me into the scene, making me feel like a part of the investigation. Your playful twist on the traditional whodunit tale, witty dialogue, and a lighthearted conclusion leave a lasting impression. Sam, an exhilarating ride! - Blessings, Daniel

I'll take 'rhythmic word-flow' any day of the week, Daniel, thank you. I hope it was fun. It is always a balance; hosting, meal-prep, then dropping back into murderous guise! Blessings :)

What a brilliant write dear sam. I love the picture used and the quote too. And your opening lines really drew me in. Has a rhythm and a very captivating cadence to it: flowing in such a seamless manner, descriptive storytelling in such a poetic way. I love the little details and the mystery that kept me going. Had to read it twice as it was worth the read. Good to see you post. I enjoyed this poem. The ending was definitely surprising too. Sending you light

I don't mean this in a disparaging way...I was baffled like I am when I play the "Clue" game but in a much deeper sense. I love a good mystery, and your poem of mystery was captivating. Have a splendid evening. have a great evening, Sara

:)) Maybe jam (jelly) with rice pudding is just a British thing. Thank you Sara. Sx
