Ms. Contrary's Garden

Round was the plan
ripe and not squishy
You know Mary never
liked her peas too mushy.

The shells were flat
the crop was meager
and only one held two
peas in a pod for supper

Mary was contrary
and so her garden grew
with only empty pods
except for those two!

Hi, Deborah! Congratulations on your Honorable Mention in Nathan's contest. It is a very inspirational and humorous poem. Your win was well-merited. I will be sixty on February 6th, 2010, but I feel very young at heart. I used to live in Waterbury two years ago, but I moved back to NY. I wish you continued success in your writing endeavors and a Very Happy Birthday from my heart. Stay healthy, be happy and keep on writing. Love, Andrew.

what the hell? how are two peas in a pod supposed to feed a whole family. this has something to do with contrary doesn't it...."noun: two propositions are contraries if both cannot be true but both can be false " that's from rhymezone....help me out here Deb, before I set her contrary garden on contrary fire for giving me empty pea pods!!!:) the smile means I'm acting like an idiot on purpose...Yoni

Hey Deborah, That sounds like my garden. You have a nice take on the contest. Only two peas!!! That makes them special, then. Smiling, DAS-J
