Moving On is All for the Best

Moving on is all for the best
when love has become beyond stale.
When misery can’t be suppressed,
you feel like a hopeless beached whale.

When fighting is all that you do,
moving on is all for the best.
To your own self you are not true
if you’re stuck lonely and depressed.

You’ll only get more and more stressed
if you have done all that you can.
Moving on is all for the best
for the loveless woman or man.

Who doesn’t want some affection
and to feel something deep in their chest?
When love has no resurrection,
moving on is all for the best.

When marriage becomes a breach of trust, when it tends to physical abuse or mental torture, it is better to move on. The quatern form you have chosen is best suited for your stream of thought.

I tend to agree with your expertly crafted poem Andrea, but sometimes couples will stay together even in loveless relationships just for their children, I’m not saying that’s right, but perhaps understandable, still if violence or indeed psychological abuse is involved, get the hell out of there and move on! Cheers David

Yes. Nobody should stay with abuse but unfortunately, most victims of abuse don't get the help they need to escape. As for staying for the kids, I don't think many do that any more. My mom and stepdad argued constantly. We kids kind of wanted them to break up!!

You are right Andrea. On the other hand when I hear couples that say we never fight or argue I gather there is no trustful communication . We are all unique and do disagree sometimes. But iif fighting is always in the wings it could lead to physical abuse as it did to that wonderful woman who was bashed and beaten in England and is paralysed now. Her husband should have got the death penalty, In stead he was only given 16 years in prison. Great write as always dear Andrea. Hugs love Jennifer.

I watch lots of true crime. Usually it's the man who beats or murders his spouse. Sadly these awful abusers don't care about protection orders. They are monsters and should not be allowed back on the streets. I think most couples should be able to work things out but today's people just want quick solutions. The world needs to turn to God.

Creative work penned. Way to go. Reads like a good contender to me for the contest. I think you have given it thought and come up with a good one. Sara K

Dear Andrea, your "beached whale" imagery really hits on that specific, suffocating immobility. I found your focus on "resurrection" particularly grounded it admits that love isn't always something that can be "worked on" sometimes it has simply reached its natural end, and staying becomes a form of self-dishonesty. I guess that is where Agape Love comes in. Blessings, Dear Andrea, Daniel

dear sweet andrea, I feel like this poem is meant for me! Honestly how wise and brilliant is this! Yes when relationships no longer serve you right or make you feel better or give that dopamine rush i would say let go! Hmm i dont know tho how some survive relationships for so long! I think maximum six months is the best hahahah just kidding! Pleasure reading this heartfelt poem! Definitely a fave for me! Sending you light always.

I agree with this one - and it sounds good as a quatern!

Sadly when a relationship is one sided it's time to move on. Tom
