Mouse's Last Christmas
Strings of tinsel lay all over the floor
with Christmas lights that don’t work anymore
Strands of garland shredding its petals
Boxed up branches with rusty metals
Indoor, outdoor lights all in a big ball
Didn’t anyone untangle them this fall?
Lots of stale popcorn which bottoms the box
Finally found that pair of grandma’s socks.
The angel was missing that goes on the top
Darth Vader got put up for the swap
Lights twinkling, sleigh bells jingling
The cat comes around and starts mingling
The tree is pretty with tinsel and bows
Can’t find the ornaments and no one knows
Made some gingerbread men who hang just right
Oh crap, the power went out, we have no light.
Wandering in the dark to get a flashlight
Step on the cat, he zoomed out of sight
It stirred up such things like mice and a mouse
Oh they’re running all thru the house.
The mice ate the gingerbread men, all but one
Exasperated he thought his life was almost done
He climbed down the tree and fell into the water bowl
You couldn’t imagine the sight of that soggy man’s soul.
The cat hunted and caught all the mice but one
Had such a good time, I’m sure it was fun
The gingerbread man thought the mouse was a louse
The cat caught the louse and now there’s no mouse in the house
