Mountains

Mountains were made for poets --
for dramtic scales and harrowing descents. For
lofty subjects and deeper, fumarole vents -- many
are volcanic you know. Some active,
others sleeping, as those creative dry-spells~
no word-glows with the ashes. When carefully
placing my dots and dashes, counting often unruly
syllables, contemplating scriptor's tempting easy-rhymes,
word-candy, for poetic sound-effects, reminded I am of canned
laughter, not needed when Saturday Night
Live was yet funny. Had real entertainment substance.

My first book of mountains admittedly needed
more height, did not adhere to principals of careful oversight.
Honesty with self, and stacks of rejections have been
my maturing lifts and refining propellers. Don't give up. Lots
of knowlegeable-beans and more spicy life-seasoning has helped fuel my
linguistic evacuation. As Poe may have also been implying
when he said, what we "see and seem", do not necessarily equate
to a publisher's eclectic ream. What do they know anyway?:)

Yeah. What do they know anyway? I am saying that to myself more and more as I see a few poets blatantly using AI or plagiarism and yet winning lots of contests. I wonder if actual publishers even take note of this if these same poets try to get published offline. You are very creative and it's so easy to tell your poetry is authentic. Love your mountain metaphor.

My opinion, they should be kicked off of Soup. Copied from the internet: computer programs have been developed to spot AI-generated writing, and some are marketed to publishers; however, these tools are not 100% accurate and relying solely on them can lead to significant false positives (human writing flagged as AI). Publishers are advised to use them as one component of a broader, human-centric review process. https://www.pangram.com/ claims to be almost 100 per cent affective at spotting AI generated works. ?? Who knows. Honesty with self and others is the core of poetry...without it~ there is no poetry. Seriously, without honesty humanity becomes Chamber Bucket's Content. Just my opinion. Thank you, Andrea.

I have written many short stories and many poems, but no urge to publish. I did publish some novellas in Maltese. No more. I wish you luck with your endeavours.

Hi Victor; I just publish my own stuff, for a few friends. Leave some record of how I deeply felt about life, in case any future offspring are interested in what great great great grand pa thought. Other than one sister-in-law, no family members read any of my works that I am aware of. No interest.

Hi Terry; Poe was probably my first introduction to poetry. Love all of his works. If you have some time please read my short stories, many are Poe-ish.

Thank you, Paula; "Land of Beginnings" -- self published. I lack the formal education to do a really good job of editing and publishing. But I tried. Go to my short stories, mostly horror...but there is a very religious libretto, that is wholesome and Spiritually uplifting. Oh, "The Angel Who Lost Her Tree" is a delightful Christmas story!
