Mother’s One-Way Ticket

Our sweet mother went to heaven one Spring day. Four years ago, the flowers folded their wings. Hymns, ethereal in the fog; smile at bay. Left at table, in closet, on shelves - her things. Most dearly departed, her ticket one-way. And my father cheers her urn each day. She’s in our hearts, our thoughts are off and flying. This family is strong; I am not crying.

It's very wise to let the memory live on in a setting of love and harmony. Our departed loved ones are watching over us and do not want us to waste our energy and precious time crying

True! Even at the beginning I could hear my mom (in my head) saying “Stop it, Kimmy.” and I did. Hugs

Dear Kim,this is so tender and beautifully written. Your words carry both the ache of loss and the quiet strength of love that endures. The image of your father cheering her urn is deeply touching—both heartbreaking and heartwarming. There’s such grace in how you’ve honored her memory while also showing the resilience of your family. Thank you for sharing this—it moved me deeply....Hugs

Kim, what a beautiful, faith-filled tribute to your mom. It is rich in memories yet filled with life that continues without her. I am deeply touched by this poem on so many levels. Sending you Easter joy! ??

Besides their obvious absence, the presence of their things scattered all over the house is a constant reminder that they have left on a one-way ticket, where we know they will be happy because the were good people and hope now and then they will send us a message in our dreams. HUGS, Jennifer.
