Mother's Day, a Daughter's Hope

Now I sit at the graveside of memory,

on this eve of Mother's Day,

The path that I walked to your gravesite

Strewn with petals of flowers in May

Roses are red, but somehow, I'm blue,

                                         For long loss and heartaches

                                              And mother; of you.

I brought you my tokens, then left at your feet,

                                          Longing for belonging,

                                     In your Mother love sweet.

Mother, so longed I, I know that you knew

I sought, and I'd waited, for sweet time with you

I sit at the gravesite of your memory

Hoping in heaven that one day there'll be,

Time for a new hope, refreshing as rain,

And, Mother, my hope to be near you again

Roses have thorns mom, I know this is true

And true love has pain, mom, I truly loved you.

On Mother's Day Eve, I hope in some way,

                                     God gifts you my Mama,

                                       A sweet Mother's Day

I understand these things. My mom’s ashes are in a beautiful purple urn in Dad’s living room. I still see her after she died. It has been 5 years now. Would you believe I had a fall on that anniversary and I believe I was saved from the worst by a miracle. It happened so fast, I merely hit the ground with no trip. I hurt my ribs but never needed a doctor. A pavement tile was flipped up and I didn’t see it. Phew…God is good.

Wow Kim, I'm so glad you're ok. I read about your fall on a poem that you had posted, but somehow I had thought you had fallen on the day of her death, from shear shock. That is a blessing of a miracle that God protected you from worse injuries! Now you have two things to remember on the anniversary, the day your mother graduated to heaven, and the day God said to fate "Not yet! Kim's still needed on earth to write her poems!" I'm grateful He has allowed you to be ok after falling like that. The loss of a mother is hard on this earth, it is a comfort to be believers in eternal hope and life, but even so, oh it hurts so much. Hugs to you sweet friend.

The joy that they experience in heaven can't be explained in earthly terms, BJ. My parents went on thirty years ago for my father and 28 for my mother. I still remember them every day if only a very simple thought or a pictured memory of them when they were young. Sara K.

Thank you for your comforting visit and comment Sara. It is good to be reminded of the joys of heaven, and a great comfort. I'm glad that you are blessed with memories of your parents. I too believe there isn't a day that goes by without memories of my own parents. Earth has a lot of sadness, but the hope of joy in the eternal we have in Christ is such deep hope and comfort. Thank you for your gentle reminder. My dad died in 1988, my mom in 2013. She never took her wedding ring off until she died, theirs was a true lasting love, so very sweet.

Such sweet sentiments coming straight from the heart. 'Mother' is the word l like most in my life. The very word evokes a train of lovely thoughts in most of us. It is a love that deepens in absence. A beautiful tribute to your mother, dear BJ.

Thank you my beautiful friend, your words are precious. Yes, in the absence as time wears on, there is more healing, and deeper longing and love. I loved bringing her gifts, flowers cards, calling her. We were a big family, and after my dad died, we all babied her a lot, as he had lavished her with such love all the days of their lives together. Thank you for your visit and kind words my friend, have a blessed Mother's Day sweet Valsa <3

We have the same thoughts. I loved my mother dearly, now over twenty years gone. Great tribute. My prayers with both of them.

Thank you Victor, twenty years, so sad. My mom died 13 years ago, right before her birthday, and right before my daughter had her first baby, my mom wanted to see him so much, she was very excited for Amy, as they were very close, and even gave my daughter the money for a crib with built in dresser for a baby shower gift, that she never got to see. We didn't expect her to die, she had been doing so well only a couple of weeks prior. It was a huge loss and sorrow, coming so quickly that some resolutions had not been taken care of, and they caused more grief. This time of year is hard on us, but I know she is no longer in misery. Thank you for the prayers for both my mom and yours, I appreciate that so much, and will pray for you and your dear mother as well. Thank you for your visit, I appreciate so much.

Lovely tribute to your mother BJ, they leave such a void when they pass, but they live on in your heart and the happy memories that you have of them. Enjoy your weekend. Tom

Thank you Tom, for your visit, and understanding comment, they do leave a void, don't they? Mother's Day is a joyful time, but sad too, a mixed bag of blessings. I look forward to seeing my dear children who live near, and some of my grandchildren tomorrow. My sweetheart has already begun spoiling me, he gave me roses sprinkled with glitter, a caramel coffee, treats, and said there's another gift for tomorrow :) One of my daughters has also given me a vase of lovely flowers early as well :) They are such blessings, I am having a blessed day with them. I do miss my mom today, wishing we had more time, though she lived to be nearly 91, so much left unsaid, undone. Truly, a mixed day of emotions...

So sweet, Bj. As we count our blessings, consider that you have a gravesite to visit and fond memories to recall... Thank God. ~ Gershon

Yes, thanking God, in all things, and yes, to have a gravesite to visit, that in itself really is a blessing. Thank you for your visit and comments Gershon, hope that you and your family are having a blessed weekend. Happy Mother's Day to your wife, Sarah I think her name is? I too have a Sarah, so I think I remember correctly?
