Mother Earth
is Crying
Her heart is breaking
Earth is shaking violently
She is hurt and
She is angry
Her tears no longer reign
Oceans swelling dry
all the creatures
She spits out
on Her tender moorings shore
their souls no longer free,
all dead, lying still on sand
beached, they no longer swim the seas
they choke on plastic,
sick from man's pollution
now unable to breathe, choking
on humanity's thoughtless, selfish greed
some, their death remains a great mystery,
no man has the reason, nor the answers why
She, Mother Earth, Gaia
has caste Her final die
Her volcanoes seethe
She is burning fury,
lava, She vomits out
from deep discontent and pain inside
Mother Gaia reaches
for Tsunamis to wash Her pride
Tornadoes shake Her womb
no more butterflies
She grabs with Her fists full,
the birds and the bees from Her skies
squeezing tight their hearts all bursting
no more songs, no more elegant cries
no buzzing of honey bees
for manuka medicine
no more pollination,
sweet colours to abound
perfumed flowers,
stale powder on the breeze
all have gone to brown,
all ecosystems dead
trees they cut in numbers
where is the air to breathe
She closes all their chapters
She closes all their dying eyes
goodnight bats that fly
by the thousands
lifeless on heaving hellish bitumen
roads to nowhere they all lie
no one knows Her reasons
no one has an accurate answer
why birds
drop from the sky
Locusts are on the rise, their food is lost
so they eat other fresh supply
all Her golden crops
ravished now, goodbye
Mother Earth is crying
Her people stand idly by
they watch their clocks
as She silently turns in Her bed
and they think
She is about to die
and they tell untruths
about the real cost
Her treasure, black blood boiling
this Her pure blood, her fuel,
it takes all Her energy
to survive
they suck Her like vampires,
they bleed Her dry
they, Her foolish children,
ignorant man
but nowhere near human,
She cries
they dream like reptiles
cold-blooded, all their rich tomorrow’s
war is not Her prize
She will not compromise
no silent player
no hidden disguise
Mother Earth
is Crying
Her heart
is breaking,
cracked,
open like an egg
the days in seconds in every minute
of each hour slip like a noose goodbye
Mother Earth quakes
in untimely dread
She no longer pretends
to be these monsters' safe house,
to be their warm
safe bed
Mother Earth
is shaking violently
Her tears no longer reign
All her Oceans swelling dry
Hear her message,
the beating of her heart
her constant resonance
sets her from man apart
Her tears
no longer reign
She has no relevant need
for these ignorant upstarts
Her Life begins to renew
continues to vibrate high
She is resurrecting,
a revelation to be read
her constant resonance
sets her from man apart
She does not need them
in Her bed
