Mother

From the beginning you were always there A large lady filled with joy and dolly mixtures they were your favorite You were short in stature with a huge heart you couldn't afford much but everything you had you passed onto me except for that black curly hair that would never go straight no matter how you teased it You kept the house spotless dust too scared to gather in your presence the kitchen was your sanctuary and your domain if I close my eyes I can still smell the scent of freshly baked scones and cheese straws, bread and apple pie I'm not sure I told you how I felt I hope now that I didn't need to that you knew that the smiles, hugs and request for seconds were enough to tell you I loved you
