Mosaics Class

I am not artistic, but I signed up for a class To learn to make mosaics Out of little bits of glass. We studied some examples From a long-past ancient date Then received our own materials With which we could create. I watched my classmates jump right in, Ideas at their command, While staring blankly at the tiles And glue I had at hand. With paper and a pencil, I can quickly craft a rhyme. My talents don’t extend to places Where the words aren’t prime. Yet I’ll complete my project And will proudly bring it home, Knowing it will never equal Even my worst-written poem.

The greatest glass mosaics are in French cathedrals – / proof that flesh and blood are capable of miracles! / Don't waste your precious eyes on Tiffany glassware/ they pale by comparison to Chartres, and Notre Dame for brilliant color fare. /Maurice

You can always 'make' the one tile that's missing in a ceiling of 1,000 tiles, Ilene. (Just like me!) lol. ~ gw

That's a good one. Your poems are fantastic, so perhaps the poor shards of glass didn't have a chance. Keep going with the poetry. I'll continue reading.

Though you may not be artistic, it is still good to stretch your muscles. My sister own a franchise business where people meet to make signs using wood, stain, stencils, paint, and are given techniques to use. Helps a bit with the creativity. Words are also what I have at my disposal. Love them so much! Hugs ~ Kim
