Morning Beauty

I loved you in the morning
When first I saw you there
With eyes all wide and sleepy
And your lovely ruffled hair
No make-up on your smiling face
Well I say none there was a trace
A hint of shadow above your eye
I looked at you and felt a sigh
Of how good it was to be here
And what beauty do I see
In this slim form before me
I held you closer to me
Felt the beating of your heart
I breathed your air
And touched your hair
I prayed that we would never part
