After I sent the message, I thought maybe it's about seeing birds first thing upon waking. I just like the idea of it. I'm not too good at reading poetry, and just started writing it less than one year ago. I studied math in college, and I'm retired now. That's why I was pleasantly shocked to have won your contest. I'm having a lot of fun doing it, and the different contests help me with ideas. If I place in a few of them, it encourages me. Hopefully, that's a good thing :-).

Thanks, Matt. I found and enjoyed the pickle party piece - somehow it made this old recording pop into my head. If you Google "the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band Intro and Outro", you might enjoy it.

You're a really good writer for someone who doesn't write a lot. Keep it up! Follow your bliss, as Joseph Campbell says. One of the few contests I've actually won was about pickles, so, you never know!

"Thanks for the comment! I love how you picked the most random of poems to remark upon. I was in a big Ralph Waldo Emerson/transcendentalism kick at the time. This poem was written 17 years ago when I was in college, where I wrote my most "wild" stuff. This is a sample of the wilding going on."
