More Sad Truth: of Pigs and Pearls

This was written with regard to Jan's poem about the sad truth she discovered yesterday. An attitude adjustment is desperately needed for anyone who would try to manipulate others. https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/the_sad_truth_behind_the_reduction_of_comments_on_my_poems_974921 It's a cheeky, brazen pig who orders people around by saying, "Don't comment on her poems, and don't read anything by him." You wallow in a pig sty while on innocent poets you are preying. With a demeanor such as that, your life must be pitiful and grim. Stop slinging your dirty barnyard sludge in the faces of other poets. You should feel ashamed for doing something so cruel and asinine! But you'll never admit to what you've done and everyone knows it. A poet's words are pearls, never meant to be thrown before swine.* *Matthew 7:6

Being treated that way by another poet here is sad. There are so many great poets here, why be envious or hateful to any one of them? I hope Jan does as I do and decides to just keep on writing and posting. This site has so many very talented poets! That is why I bought a lifetime membership.

Lin, I am so happy to read this in support of our friend Jan, she certainly doesn’t deserve that treatment. Maybe I’m a bit naive but I thought PS was meant to be a platform to share our writing with each other and not a game of king on the mountain. And btw I’m saddened to hear that you won’t be renewing your membership; there are some of us who will miss your incredible writing. John

Jan is a friend and it's in support of her, myself and a couple of others that we've written about it. It's not naïve to think a poetry site would be a place of encouragement where no one should have the quest to be king or queen. Thanks for the kind thoughts about my poetry being missed. I will continue to post, but I have a real problem with paying to be treated unjustly and/or with the recent sarcasm from one in particular.

Hi Lin, I don't understand why this person is doing this. This is a place to write poetry. We don't even know each personaly and it shouldn't be that serious to target a person(telling someone not to support thier poetry) on this site. What is it they don't like their work? So what, other poets do. So stop throwing shade. Its a whole lot things I don't like but I don't just out right disrespect someone or their work. Lin its good to see other poets supporting each other. I see Jan appreciates it as well- Alexis

It's a pity that such problems exist on a site meant for poetry. We should be encouraging each other instead of being jealous, vengeful, or what ever the reason that motivates such ill-gotten feelings. I agree with you, Alexis, if you don't like someone, don't read them, but have enough integrity not to be disrespectful. And don't spread your bad attitude to others by asking them not to comment on another poet's work. Too many fingers are pointed in the wrong direction. Thanks, Alexis.

Thanks for your support Lin your poem made me sad that someone is deliberately targeting me and telling folks via 2facedook not to comment on my poems , well it certainly has backfired as my poem yesterday has had more reads and comments than many I've posted in a while. :-) love the pic too:-) hugs jan xx

They think they ARE playing with their toys, but we're not puppets and no strings hold us back from writing, whether we receive comments or not.

That saddens me so much Lin - I have worked in schools the behaviour there was much better than these so called adults - wish they would go away and play with their toys:-( hugs jan xx

It's far worse, Jan, because now it's been confirmed that you are NOT the only poet who's been targeted. More's the pity that someone, or ones, would stoop so low.
