Moonlight on Meadows

A field of green filled with enchanting flowers Is illuminated in the midnight hours Dim is his light while smiling in the dark The marvelous moon leaves a memorable mark His little light is subtle and skillfully suffice Creating a romantic mood, his luminosity is precise Like an eclipse with the sweet sun When they kiss, they become one The world gazes at their union admiring the moon His dazzling glow leaves before the dawn of day too soon In the moon's spotlight at night we enjoy sitting below The magical moon on the beautiful Meadow

I wanted to read your take on the contest and find it interesting that you see the moon as the essence of a male. I've written of the moon and sun as star crossed, or perhaps celestial crossed lovers who are never allowed to see each other except at a great distance. Congratulations on your entry having been awarded a place on the winning, list.

I think of moonlight as being softly luminous, setting a romantic mood in the evening. Whereas I see the sun as being bolder and larger.

I've written a previous poem of the moon and always thought it to be male. I see many connotations of it as male and of the sun as female. For e.g. we can see a woman's beauty with light that we get from the sun. The moon shines best at night and men would be more prone to be out late at night compared to females. Culturally they've got later curfews that women. Or even jobs such as driving would mostly be male drivers at night. When they eclipse, the moon is infront of the sun, in the same way a man or husband may stand in front of his lady when wanting to protect her... just but a few examples.
