Luna sings sweetly
when the sun goes down…
…and the stars light up against
the black velvet of the empyrean.
Others view Luna
with a judgemental frown…
…they approve only sunlight songs
in hues of yellow and tangerine.
When will we see with our hearts
and hear music with the love we hold there?
When will the ethereal light
of the moon on meadows here
be thought as beautiful
as that glaring sun of theirs?
The moonlight is gentle,
it sings to us of lovers and lakes.
Of both beneath those graceful beams,
in a boat being rocked to sleep.
It softens her features,
giving much more than it takes.
Luna in the arms of another
in the moonlight on meadows and lakes…
…Over what eternity keeps.
