Notes About The Poem

MOONLIGHT

Moonlight rests on the windowsill~
a pale blessing poured without a sound.

My open Bible glows faintly~
its pages holding the night like a calm breath.

Outside, a lone owl settles on the fence~
a stillness deep as prayer.

The Moon makes night magical. But my Bible makes it come alive. I never see the owls but always hear them out side.

They are enchanting, marvelous creatures. Hide your little kittens though. Extraordinary hunters. One, Plato, was a hero in my book "Land of Beginnings." In the Still of The Night, a great favorite of mine. Do most all my writing and deep prayer work, meditations at 1--4am mornings.

Dearest Sara, just beautiful, serene and so filled with peace that sometimes seems elusive. I love the first line - the image of moonlight resting on "the windowsill" is such a beautiful picture. What a beautiful image. Sending you blessings of serenity.
