Monotone Skies

this monotone sky
is less full than i
this moonless night

lonesome is the star
that flickers
in the weave of clouds
obscured of darkness

i stand shapeless
in the absence of light
where shadows recede
hidden like thoughts
forbidden

i search
through the fog
of clouded mind
trying to find
the lucent glow
of your soul
to usher me
through this obscurity
of nighttide

So many thought provoking and profound images - "stand shapeless," "lonesome is the star," "weave of clouds" talk of lonliness and the need to connect. Wonderful. Congratulations, dear friend.

Sandra, i keep looking for your face on the MasterClass ads. I'd subscribe in a heartbeat if you taught a class on writing free verse poetry! Another beauty with so many interwoven threads and images stated so elegantly. Congrats on the win. Gorgeous! Hugs

Obscurity of night tide, I love your word phrasing and combinations, brings a freshness to each write although similar in tone, each one stands alone.

An eerie and lonely feeling piece. 'i stand shapeless in the absence of light where shadows recede hidden like thoughts forbidden' This stanza really spoke to me. All the way around fantastic. I don't know how I missed this earlier but thankfully I found it now.

Thank you Chris I now know the reader felt what the night made me feel last night. When it’s total darkness through the clouds. I snuck this one on at the same time the angel winners list hit :) hugs
