Monday, Through Alley Slinks

Monday, damp and gray, through alley slinks
disturbs the peace with cursed work-week
Her chill invades my pillows and sheets
  noxious fumes from asphalt streets

I wrap myself in blankets tight
clinging to what's left of night
Against my relentless, ringing foe
~ at alarm clock's crow, to work I go

I don't miss Mondays either, Mike. That's b/c I'm up by at least noon, if not 11:00 a.m. or so that morning. lol. (Not really). ~ gw

Maybe if I 'soldier on' enough, I'll get to March. :)

Yes, indeed. That dread on Monday sure has vanished, hasn't it? I myself still have trouble getting 'right down to business' on Mondays though. Take care, Tom! :)

GW, I agree with John below. Although I'm no longer participating actively in the "work" week, I still dread crawling out of bed on a Monday. I think it's a mental thing for me, after so many years. Sometimes, I just re-wrap myself and sleep longer. No one says I can't and no one seems to know unless I tell them. So....

Yes, I hear you. At least we retirees get to 're-wrap' ourselves in blankets if need be...

A grand idea, yours! Thanks for the chuckle, John. ~ Gershon
