Monday Morning

On this warm Summer Monday,
I have the blinds open and
am quietly watching as the world
begins to lighten with the sunrise
I often dread Mondays because
each Monday marks another week
that I am living without my youngest
son in the world - I do know
that he would want me to keep
living my life, but it feels wrong
However, as the day begins, and
the world outside begins to wake up,
the hope of a new day and a new week
begins to spread to my heart
I will embrace my busy Monday and
find joy where I can, and try to be
the joy in someone's day today

This is a beautifu poem, Kathleen. It reminds me of something that really helped me after I lost my husband to cancer. I felt so close to him, my final grieving step (not sure if I can explain this right) was to incorporate him in how I experience the world ~ I am now a 'we' basically he is an integral part of how 'we' live, experience and enjoy 'our' day.

Line, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. There are definitely times that I feel like he is with me in that way, but I am continuing to process and grieve. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Bill. I try to be positive, but I definitely have my negative moments. I just try not to let them be days, weeks, etc.

With ups and downs, today is a good day, Kathleen! Grieve for ever long, but today you are strong, sweet one. My best friend, growing up, her name is also Kathleen. God bless.

Thank you, Kim. There aren't a lot of Kathleen's out there, but I enjoy it when I find one. It's a good name.
