Mommy
Late last night,
A voice she heard,
Calling out her name.
Waking her
From a sweet, deep, sleep.
Rupturing her dreams.
That voice…
So urgent,
So mysterious…
So shrill.
So piteous,
So young.
Wailing loudly,
Into the night.
Screaming her name.
Mommy!
Mommy!
She follows the voice,
Comforts the voice,
And the demons,
And the monsters are gone.
