Mom and Baby's Love

The way Mom held me in devoted arms
She nestled me all comfy by her side
Protected sure, I'd never come to harm
Then gazed at me with smile that grew so wide

Yet scholars wonder if mere babes can feel
And could they possibly have brains to think
If from their ivory towers they would steal
They'd witness babes and moms in love's chains linked

In every culture 'cross all time and lands
The bond 'tween babe and Mom has reigned supreme
And every infant's ever tried to stand
Can tell Mom's screams from eyes with loving beams

A scientist's good name he does besmirch
~ When motherhood and love he dares research

Wow, that natural mother/baby bond is captured perfectly Gershon. Mother always knows best!

Those scientists had better leave this one alone for sure!

If it ain't broke---which it ain't---why do they need to keep fixing it all the time?! What is with people, esp. Americans?! ~ gw

wonderful sonnet and interesting topic, perhaps they should leave this to the moms and worry about other things, i actually hate when people who know nothing about parenting write books to tell people how to parent...it's not something you can be taught, it comes natural...enjoyed this one :) hugs

You know what's really disturbing? -- When your pediatrician, either NBM or M/no kids, starts quoting from some medical text as to how to handle your kids. These guys sound as if they're reading recipes out of a cookbook. Unbelievable! Thanks, Sandra. ~ gw

What a fantastic sonnet Gersshon! . Academics and teachers always think they know better than a mother. Perhaps, true in some cases, other~But mothers love and know their child best, and love them most. Institutions of learning are there to teach, not replace, mothers. Love, Panagiota

You are so right. Those academic 'social engineers' are so full of manure. Sociologists and their ilk are better of DE-scribing than PRE-scribing. Thanks for the support and for the great comment, Panagiota. Best wishes, Gershon
