Mom

She's 79 and a live wire,
hardly ever sits down
and doesn't easily tire,
She is young at heart
and that's plain to see,
takes care of herself
which we can all agree.
Although she is like Ginger Rogers
without her Fred Astaire,
she realizes without her partner,
life isn't always fair,
But she manages her pain and strife,
being she's an optimist
with a zest for life,
So, I thank God
my Mom is still healthy and aware,
because this grand dame
isn't ready for some old rocking chair!

Wonderful tribute, Cheryl. Not a day goes by that I don't think about my mother at some point in the day. Cherish yours, you'll miss her dearly when the time comes for her to pass away. Love this poem, lady. Much love to you. RW

This is a lovely, heartfelt tribute to your Mother but with a skillfully managed dash of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't want it to end. Commendable work, Cheryl. hugs x x x

I'm the poet and am posting a comment on my own poem to let you all know I forgot to delete the last paragraph of my poem so it looks like I'm repeating it! Sorry because personally I think I ruined it......aaaaargh!
