Mocking the Dead
Mocking the dead,
A man passed by kidjaga cemetery and
saw some folks praying for the dead.
He was so astonished and mocked
the living ones as they seemed
to be unintelligent in his eyes.
"How do they pray for cadavers
who cannot see and listen? "
He asked a woman who passed
near by him,
"they can hear us well, "
She responded and
laughed at him.
"Do you really identify yourself sister?"
He asked her,
she continued to laugh nervously
and joined the people who prayed for the dead.
He found it difficult to be au fait with their culture
and thought to share more about spiritual
teachings with them to take out that exaggerated stupidity.
that woman spoke to her mother silently
"the man who is seating on that stone
under the guava tree was mocking the dead,
by saying that they don't hear and see us.
I could not confront him because I was precipitating
to join prayers."
"don't question our culture dearly,
remember when Jesus said to let the dead burry themselves, " her mother said,
and they continued doing their incantations peacefully.
He walked down the valley,
crossed the river
and went home calmly.
