M-M-M First Kiss

Oh, how wonderfully innocent
and juvenile, 'twas for me.
You, scooting surreptitiously.
closer and closer to me.
Like a soft, gentle caterpillar,
slithering and smiling.
Making its way home in the
still of the night.

I clutched my lovely, flowered
handkerchief.
Then my gold cross with a
sparkling aqua gem upon it.
Really, wanting to not say, no.
My blue eyed Tommy boy.

In the Elmwood Park Spring, we
were about to kiss.
Fireflies came to celebrate this
celebratory bliss.
When we were moving beyond
flirtation.

It was as though heaven were
sending particles of stars,
To bless the softness of this
sacred night.
Of huge elm tress, your strong
arms about me.
Finally, those soft, tender lips.
There in God's silent moonlight,
I had my first teenage kiss!

Sorry, James! There are people who crush out hearts and oh, your poetry, too? horrible. I was very young in the poem...and not hurt by our relationship. It was sheer delight. Thank God. Love, Panagiota

Your first kiss is the best and you think you are madly in love, which both the boy Paul and I were. Both 16, they were moving to Scotland, and he said he wouldn't go unless he married me and took me with. Both lots of parents spoke to him and he came back to his senses, but the day he left, my heart was broken. Hugs Panagiota mou.

Wow~ what a story about Paul! I do feel your pain! I don't know what became of Tommy. We both moved on and went to University. There were many loves to come after him. All unique! But meeting the ONE..is a blessing of a lifetime, no? Hugs, Jennifer mou!

Andrea, an honor to Fave this by you. There is plenty of kissing and sensuos poems at the Soup. If someone doesn't like it, they never were kissed right. I LOVE it, also ))). Panagiota

I am both humbled and so greatly honored to have this magnificent piece dedicated to me my friend. I too, have such endearing and precious memories of my first kiss, with my first love. Your wonderful verses sing out to this old poet's fast beating and tender heart. A true gem and a fine fav.. Thank you..
