Misunderstood

Soft voices on the wind
Barely heard through the din
Promises whispered on shivering skin
Causing the mind to spin
Can’t erase this silly grin?

Chasing butterflies down the path
Jagged stones in the grass
Cutting deep like broken glass
Blood seeping out so fast
How long can this last?

There in the shadowed woods
By a stream she stood
Not knowing if I should
Offered solace because I could
Took a chance; was misunderstood

Tiptoeing from stone to stone
Can’t suppress an anguished groan
Emotions crushed like fragile bone
Realizing now I’m all alone
This pain should stay unknown

Thought we came to play
You decided to leave anyway.
I wanted you to stay
What else can I say?
It was a crazy day.

To me rhyme , flow and message rate as tops. This poem shines and glows to the reader. Tells a tale and pleases the eye and the mind both! Accomplishes that in style too. A7
