Mistress of Despair

Feeling turbidity
in a globe
so remote ,
as to be
a mirage
awash with guilt
armored to be
despondent
courted by
sadness and her wiles

She ,
it is a she
torments
every
waking
moment

I resign
to be hopeful
chained
to the fates
merciless
though they can be
I wish for many
hoping for all ,
your being
my signal light
the guide
my spirit follows
reverently shamefully
homeward,
giving a ray
a shimmer of life
igniting the wick
warming
my depth
pushing her
into nothingness
until she rears
her beauteous
face once again

Radiant sadness
she brings darkness
hopelessness
lies in my mind
she pulls me in
so sweetly
silently
that until
lying in her arms
the realization
and horror
seduced again
I am despairs mistress

But the living are
glimpsed
in patches
as birds darting
branch to limb
bright shining
billboards
declaring a world
living and being
in now

Words written
light infused
missives declaring
an axis turning
my life halting
mid-step,
restarted
with a charge
of words
a vent of power
a gentle stroke of
keystrokes typing
a new chapter
in the book of hope ..

Despair though
desirous she be
not a patch
does she hold on life

Very interesting writing. Despair is an evil mistress. Thank you for commenting on "Twilight." I had never heard that Oscar Wilde quote before. Joyce
