Mistreated Kitten

I'm a soft and fluffy kitten
Watching a butterfly fly free.
I am locked within my own home.
My mistress is afraid for me.
She will not allow me to roam.

I live out in the country near the wild where there are too many hungry animals that would love a kitty meal. Thanks for writing. Love, Joyce

It's a metaphor for our own fears - it's dangerous out there.

My cat was allowed to roam free because I lived in a family and animal friendly community. It sounds as though your poem addresses a person who lives somewhere she doesn't feel it is safe for her cat to roam outside. It really brings up a question I never thought about before. Made me think.
