Missing You
Missing you hurts
like an old infected wound
or burnt lips under the desert sun
Missing you kills
like a fish out of the sea
or a bird fallen off its safe nest from the top of a tall tree
Missing you stretches
like the winter dark and frozen nights
or a pregnancy that has gone terribly wrong
Missing you drains
Hope out of every and each second of life
It mocks me publically whenever I smile
Missing you goes deep
like an arrow thrown from a knight’s bow
it tears down the flesh till it reaches my bone
Missing you is hard
I am learning to live with the ghosts from the past
They chase me in darkness and stab me in the back when they’ve got a chance.
Missing you…
