When I was young, I named my doll Boyet I played with him from sunrise to sunset We’d some souvenir photos together He was my precious gift from my godmother. Our photo was framed and displayed at home Showing his bald head, no need to comb My mom had stitched tiny clothes for him Along with mine, we were both looking prim. One day, I played at the shore with my neighbors Then built a small coconut hut far from the harbor I brought Boyet for our role-play as a family We slept there overnight with my dog, Willy. Before dawn, an expected storm came We all ran back home like a racing game We left our toys and tools in our play house Including Boyet wrapped in my old blouse. When we returned the following day Unimaginable wreckage was on display Boyet got lost along with my playmates’ dolls I cried out loud scaring all the seagulls.

So sorry for your loss......Len :) I am sure it is fictional. But you have described it in such a realistic way that it sounds so very possible. Beautiful rhyming and nice ending. I can imagine the intensity of your loss that through your cry even seagulls were made to fly away in scare. Congratulations on your win.

Pets are so affectionate and the give us peace. To lose a pet is heart breaking, which I don’t know what I would do if I lost my dog. Well done verse with imagery, action, and feelings. Love it.

He is not a dog my dear poet friend. He is a doll. My favorite doll when I was young and got lost. Thank you so much for reading my poem, loving it and your words of encouragements. Blessings to you always.

Poem written inspired by my true childhood life story ---As I tried to wake my muse I've exceeded the required stanzas. I'll probably add the other 2 after the contest.
