My early education, elementary school was taught by nuns,
they were quite cross and I think did not like kids;
but one year there was a lady teacher and I loved her a lot,
she was fun, smart, creative, and lovely.
You could tell she loved teaching and loved the children,
she was always thinking of interesting things;
and made the subject matter more fun to learn about.
How did she managed to get that job?
The nuns hated her, we could tell by their sour faces,
they wanted to get rid of her and they did;
I will never, ever forget the time with her teaching me,
she gave me hope that things could be better.
It gave me the courage to ask my parents a question,
I wanted out of the Catholic school system;
I wanted to go to a public non religious type of school,
my parents thought about it and agreed.
Miss Smith, did not last long but she left an impression,
on me and all the kids, I will never forget her;
that sunny smile, that kindness, that fun way of teaching,
she changed for me my education journey.
For the following year I started in public school,
and I loved it, no laying my head on my desk,
to think about my sins, just learning new stuff each day,
thank you Miss Smith ... for changing my forever.
