Mis Amigos, Cubanos

      *****Freedom for Cubans!*****

Under Communism's cold rule~

My heart knows them well!

As their teacher, they showed respect!

The most outanding ethnic group,

Whoever put me on the front page of the
Cuban newspaper.

To keep me in their Andersonville area school.

They were so very outraged,
“MAESTRA ROMiOS,” the large block print said.

I was never so greatly honored.

A protest was planned at the Chicago Board of Education!

They did not want to lose me!

They were successful!

Cubanos, my friends forever.!

I will not let our government ever prevent

You wonderful people, the opportunity to
live here.

You are part of the American Dream!

Dedicated to the Cuban Commumity in Chicago.
“I will do what it takes to have you getting here.
Will not stand for you being forced to live under
oppression by our government..” PR

America invites people here and those whose lives are persecuted or those feeling hopeless come hoping for something better; I hope the future brings that for many. I hate it that people are abused and then told that they can't seek refuge elsewhere. Always remember where you come from and what you've achieved. Beautiful lines.

Hello Pangiota, I have been to Cuba. With my husband. the first thing he wanted to do was visit a family he spent 3 weeks with while trying to learn I forget what. It was there he had cheated on me. -- so Cuba means nothing to me but hurt feelings. I did not like there. Hugs xx

It is obvious your Cubano students loved you and you loved them. The Cubans who have reached our shores have contributed in many positive ways to the growth of our nation. They and their unfortunate families left in Cuba seem to honor the American flag and our way of life more than many of the citizens of the U.S.! You can take pride in teaching a few of them to appreciate our glorious history - Bob

K have seen the kids weep. When their parents could not come to the USA. One of my students became an EMTS, jumped on the Ei tracks to save a life.what an amazing feat. Right..,they contribute..not freeloaders. Use, honor the flag Pangie xxoo

Yes, Tom. Great people, who come here to work, not for a free ride from cradle to grave.we have Americans, here using illness, to get free payola? It's a popular game! The Cubans have been through a lot.! I'd love to relive that part of my life Pangie XXOO. Your compassion is shining! Sorry for a late response.

Yes Cuba should be a free country! So many years of communist rule has destroyed this country. This is a great poem!

What an honor for you! I am so pleased that you wrote a poem about it. I hope our country's leaders will change their minds. The Cubans truly qualify for asylum.

Hello Madelyn. Cubans are like blood family to me. They invited me to their homes on many occasions, Honestly, they treated me like a Queen.I forgot about the Cuban newspaper! Boy, they hated Castro! If our leaders have sense, they will allow them asylum...one summer I tutored a Cuban high schooler because she did not Understand BEOWULF? What person does? They were going to hold her back a year? Insane. She barely knew English, I tutored many Cubans sans cost. But got to eat such great foods, )))Pangie xxoo Love Cuban coffee,...reminded me of GREEK COFFEE. PANGIE XXOO
