Mirth
We all dream of a paradise
Where you live in peace,
And all pain would cease.
No chance of grief, no roll of the dice.
A place that I found,
No longer earthbound.
Nothing could touch me, I was invincible.
Should have listened, I was inconvincible.
Then I saw it above.
Rain of fire falls down and life crashes,
Descending to earth,
Ending my great mirth,
Reducing my paradise to ashes.
I could do nothing.
I had this coming.
I guess that optimism leads to ruin.
I think that good was only an illusion.
Then I saw it above.
The sun’s rays still illuminate the heavens.
I still have light and love.

Not great, could have been a lot better. It's also pretty short. I don't expect this to place high...
