Mirrored

"Mirrored"

Yeah its bittersweet
jagged roads stagger
then homeward
bound

the ripples roll

like smooth stones
thrown
across a pond
see them

concentric
repeating
outwards
inwards

outwards

the captured
skipping across
freedom
stories

mirrored

***** to Leanne: I wonder, do you think we see ourselves as other people see us, or do we see ourselves as we think we are in the mirror?

Leanne to *****: I do not think we see ourselves as other people see us; how we see ourselves in the mirror is not at all who we truly are, and even then, standing outside of the mirror, if we think we understand who we truly are, we are only a small portion of the way to understanding all the answers. Who we truly are, is an evolving process, we have a concept of the foundations of who we wish to be in this moment but inevitably this evolves and changes our thoughts on being, right up to the point of our exit (I’ll add this for ***** when re-reading, or any other now reading, my thoughts: at some point you have to let go of the “value” of how other people see you, for if you do not, it is at great personal cost to yourself – I say this with 'some' wisdom and further contemplation, that in doing all this, you are not harming another living being/creature). I thought that was a very intriguing question you put to me – Now you - do you think we see ourselves as others see us etc?

***** to Leanne: I don't know the answer to the question I asked you. It came to me while I was reading your poem Mirrored. I was just wondering your take on it. I wrote a poem, that explains how I know nothing about it. “Average people think I'm beautiful/ Beautiful people think I'm average/ Those who know me think I'm ugly”. It sounded better to write it that way than if I'm average then I'm beautiful or if I'm beautiful then I must be average but really to me I am ugly. Not sure how others see me and I don't think I want to know.

Leanne to *****: That is a very interesting insight into your psyche. I take everything in, I am like a sponge. I won't wring you out though. Your id’ (ego) is safe with me .... not so other people. At my age in life and I have been this way for quite a while now, I couldn't give two f***s what people think of me, although when I was much younger what people thought of me was a priority.

(cont'd) Leanne to *****: I think when I wrote “Mirrored”, it started in my mind about people when they reach a certain point of maturity in their life, they reminise about all they've done in life so far, their trials and tribulations they’ve ploughed through or circumnavigated, and they fully understand the limitations through social circumstance and the psychological barriers they carried, that caged them/ limited them from acting on their true feelings, could have been shattered if they were stronger and more resolute like the stronger version of themselves seen in the mirror, but they acquiesced to the human physical version of themselves standing outside the mirror and their fears of what other people thought; it also relates to seeing ourselves (traits) in others.

(cont'd) Leanne to *****: When you hit a certain age, most mature adults, from my experience and observations, couldn't give two f***s what others think of them and most people gaining maturity (especially emotional maturity), realise their freedom (unless they are incarcerated, or physically and mentally/medically impaired, initially thinking they have no ‘freedom of will’ or ‘choice’ – will find, in one way or another, that freedom is found in the psyche to escape physical limitations). At a certain age, most will not hold back in one way or another, in conveying their freedom or acting on it, because time is much shorter and the moment is to be taken through that new awareness of freedom and dwindling mortality.

(cont'd) Leanne to *****: On another tract of thought, re Mirrors, I also watched a few interviews of Jim Caviezel speaking about the new controversial box office hit, "Sound of Freedom". As you may be aware Caviezel, was the actor who played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's hit, "The Passion" and because of his beliefs and affiliations with conveying Christ, his career in the industry has suffered. While I admire his staunch faith in Jesus Christ, I do think his stand with freeing sex trafficked children (particularly under-age girls), more commendable, but I wander how Caviezel's stance on pro-life (anti- abortion) aligns with under-age girls raped in the sex traffick trade falling pregnant -

(cont'd) Leanne to *****: would he want those young girls’ lives (some as young as 10 and 11yrs), going through the pain of bearing an infant ripping their small bodies apart not built to carry a baby, or endure the delivery of a baby, with the end result being the under-age mother's death and quite possibly the baby's death? To me Caviezel's freedom of thought on pro-life (anti abortion), is hypocritical, ill-informed, ignorant and patriarchal. That firm belief of his in Pro-Life (anti-abortion), is in complete contradiction to his mission of saving enslaved sex-trafficked children (particularly under-age girls). There is a complete hypocricy in that debate on freedom and freedom of choice, when considering Pro-Life (anti-abortion) versus Pro-Choice (supporting right to terminate pregnancy). Obviously I am Pro-choice and that has been my stance from a very young age. Mirrors and the ripples...

Stones and poetry, why do I think that flows so well? Because it does. Man I did not know Jagger was that old looking. Ibet he does not look in the mirror much. Great singer though. I like this poem, my friend. First stanza is truly golden! God bless.
