Milton was misguided’

A man who wrote with strokes so bold’ of the Struggle of humanity.. Long may his excerpts Be told’ he helped write the American constitution, all his writes are original; and Often Concerned with restitution.. Yet too much To satan I see he gave, with that line on ruling A error (most grave!) though he was only human as Anne Lise put on shaky…Yet effects are far reaching, through many a century..’ As I will Here put this man’s work on the whole was good’ yet I’d not give a whit to the devil..’ if I do? Then condemn me, that things may be That be well understood.’ Consider Joseph in The Egypt of old, who gathered the grain and Kept it as gold, slowly he took all the people did Hold, then put them in usury.. Was God really Glad? It says much of the world that he”s a Hero at all. Do we have inbuilt moral decrepitude? What say ye all.?

Well, Milton only reflected what Joseph did... By the way, the Rabbis of the Talmud came down hard on Joseph for enslaving the people -- even blaming the Israelites' subsequent enslavement by Pharaoh directly on him! How about that?

A fascinating and provocative reflection, Joe. Your bold take on Milton and the weight of literary influence really got me thinking—especially that comparison with Joseph. There's a lot to unpack here, and your poetic voice carries the weight of those questions well. Well penned!

God can use evil, use our lesser egos to bring about good. All of use, see through a glass darkly. Therefore, nothing we say or do is without a degree of flaw. As we judge, we shall be judged...which is fine with me~ but not to forget. We are a society of lesser egos -- we cannot even read truth without shading, bending sacred words in the direction of own fallen nature. As always, you get me thinking Joe.

Hello Joe, You see his brilliance but call out where he gave too much ground to darkness, and you own your take with guts. I love that you then dig into the story of Joseph, showing that even revered figures are tangled up in morally gray choices. Looking at the “heroes” of old with clear eyes isn’t cynicism—it’s wisdom. Feels to me like the best kind of poetry doesn’t let us off the hook, and yours definitely doesn’t. Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

A very succinct comment Daniel..Now poetry.' I see and Experience poetry in that it In its ultimate level aspires to purity and purifys as it expresses itself which raises the outline of 'satan in us?' Is not the latter Joseph the exact opposite of the younger Joseph.? And to what degree can we all be subverted.' Thank you for your time spent here Daniel ' P S we must remember satan (will not rule in hell) so its un scriptural.' Maybe as Milton did not live in our time hell was a more abstract reality to him.?
