A drapery flutters of sunlit glory With lustrous stars gleaming near; Hovering around the ‘ Pearl of Orient ‘ Where seven thousand islands adorn Tints of liberty, peace, and independence; Radiant in hues… crimson, blue, white Flaming the hearts of a race blessed By lush rice terrains and summer winds. O, a banner of smiles freely glimmers Through a homeland destined to imbue Love for all brethrens as it stands proud, As the harbinger of native warmth Offering comfort to voyagers , but Fiercely defending a birthplace’s right… Where one mighty streamer rides high, Guarding folk and children…Philippines! This poem makes me proud to be Canadian. As you're proud of your flag so am I of mine, but thank you I just needed to be reminded.

I'm not even away from home, yet your write, and the flag, brought me such joy and warmth I didn't notice there was moisture in my eyes until the letters blurred. We, your countrymen, owe you for writing these beautiful lines. You reminded me to renew a child's vow to embrace things good, and be worthy of all the sacrifices our heroes died for. Your poem is already a cause for me to stand proudly as a Filipino. A 7 and a FAV! huggs!

Wish you had a picture of your flag attached. Warm, smiling, sincere and honest people is the first thought I have of the people of the Philippines. Not only that Nette Onclaud is a beautiful name. How did you find my poem? Jim Horn

I like how you expanded this superior to include not only freedom but also the native people, the lush islands, and visiting neighbors. All encompassing!
